We’re all for the latest rash of nouveau old-timey saloons and drink kitchens (Comstock Saloon and Revival Kitchen + Bar, we’re looking at you). But for a true taste of ‘back in the day,’ hardcore history buffs should head to these long-running classics where the Naugahyde is original, not ironic, and the martinis won’t break the bank.
- Alfred’s Steakhouse (1928)
- Big 4 (1976)
- Buena Vista Cafe (1889)
- House of Prime Rib (1949)
- Le Central Bistro (1974)
- The resurrected Mayes Oyster Bar (originally 1867)
- Maxfield’s (at the Palace Hotel) (circa 1909)
- Sam’s Grill & Seafood Restaurant (1867)
- Swan’s Oyster Depot (1912)
- Tadich Grill (1849)
